The Expendables - an R-rated dick-flick starring nearly every action star from the past two or three decades. (A couple are missing. Stallone said he offered roles to Seagal and Van Damme, but they turned him down.) Hollywood Reporter and Variety split on it, and there are only 52% positive reviews overall, but some of the positives were quite enthusiastic, so it may be your kind of film: "Sly Stallone has corralled the meanest, toughest action actors he could find and pooled them into a turbo-charged Dirty Dozen movie. With laughs."Eat Pray Love. Chick-flick starring the queen of that genre, Julia Roberts. In a real rarity for her, Roberts does an XXX-rated sex scene, including on-camera anal. Of course that's a lie. I was just checking to see if you were paying attention. It's rated PG-13. As for the advance buzz - well, nobody reading this blog will go to see it, so who cares? But for the record, it seems that this film has not been seen by a single reviewer. Literally. The review count at RT is absolute zero.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Youthploitation film. Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) must defeat his new girlfriend's seven evil ex-boyfriends in order to win her heart. 82% positive reviews overall, but only 50% from the top critics. Hollywood Reporter and Variety split on it.
