No starter in the past decade – and perhaps ever – has thrown as consistently hard as Ubaldo Jimenez.
The slowest pitch in baseball actually isn’t Tim Wakefield’s knuckleball. It’s his curveball.
Pedro Feliz is the worst position player in major league baseball.
Note: The worst overall player is Ryan Rowland-Smith, but that could not be described as "something you do not know." The guy is 1-10 with a 7.01 ERA, and batters have a .967 OPS against him (roughly equivalent to having Stan Musial bat every time) so his incompetence is not a secret. The Mariners are 3-16 in his starts. It's worth noting, however, that he's even worse than you think because he pitches in a pitchers' park. His road ERA is 8.78, and the average player has a 1.111 OPS against him on the road (roughly equivalent to having Ted Williams bat every time).
The Mariners sent him to the minors earlier this year, where he was 2-4 with a 5.11 ERA. The sad thing is that the Mariners are so desperate that they were impressed with that. They recalled him in September and placed him in the bullpen. His ERA since returning has been 8.31
