Easy A came in exactly as expected with $18 million, but it finished a distant second instead of first, thanks to an unexpectedly strong showing from Affleck's The Town, which took in $23 million, about 50% above expectations.The other two new films followed their predicted paths. Devil finished third and Alpha and Omega finished fifth, each as expected.
Kinda interesting: despite the presence of four new films and a loss of 300 theaters, Inception improved from tenth to eighth. (Looking at in another way, it improved from tenth to fourth among the hold-over films!) It is in its tenth week.
