Umberto Eco, James Joyce, Vladimir Nabokov, Thomas Pynchon ... and Mike Sorrentino ... finally all together in the pantheon of modern literary geniuses.
Very few people realize that Sorrentino has a lot in common with these guys. Joyce was notorious for showing his abs to the ladies at Bantry Bay. Nabokov - in many a bar fight, and could easily kick Ezra Pound's ass. And Eco? Also known to all his admirers as "la situazione," although I think the reason had something to do with his multi-layered post-pre-modernist dichotomies or something. Or was it pre-post-modernist? Who cares? He and his buds were wasted when he got the nickname. Dude loved his tequila shooters.
