He allowed 1.1 walks per 9 innings (30 walks in 250+ inings).By the way, the American League's Cliff Lee had a K/BB ratio of 10.3! He allowed only .8 walks per nine innings. Lee allowed only 16 non-intentional walks in 212 innings. That is not quite as good as Greg Maddux's best year, when he issued only 14 non-intentional walks in 232 innings. The best modern control season that I can recall was Eckersley's 1990, when he issued only three non-intentional passes in 73+ innings. That was the year his ERA was 0.61.
