The bad news: only one of the four new films has decent reviews. The worse news: it's the kiddie film, which means there's nothin' for you adults except maybe looking at Anne Hathaway naked.
Disney's Tangled, a twisted new spin on the Rapunzel legend, has received great notices: 89% positive.
Faster is an action picture with the Rock. 45% positive.
Love and Other Drugs is the "Anne Hathaway naked" movie, which has managed only 37% positive reviews.
Burlesque is the film with Cher and Christina Aquilera. According to the top critics, it is like a remake of Showgirls with singers instead of dancers, except without the nudity. I suppose it will find an appreciative cult audience, comprising people who are not currently reading these words. The score with the top critics is 36%, but that's deceptive. The percentage represents four out of eleven top critics. I read those four reviews, and three of them were not at all enthusiastic:
"Preposterous and intermittently entertaining.""A slightly deranged long music video divathon."
"Like watching a celebrity workout film with a plot. But never once is it believable. Really, the movie should last 30 seconds."
Yup, those are the positive ones! The only reviewer who really liked it was the guy from Hollywood Reporter.
