Two bits of trivia about Mimi Kennedy:
1. She should have been in the original cast of SNL. It came down to her and Jane Curtin. They knew Mimi had more talent, but thought she was too similar to Lorraine and Gilda, so they chose Curtin instead.
2. I once competed against her in a high school theater festival in Rochester, New York in which she won Best Actress and I (against all odds) was the Best Actor. I played an absurdly boring suburban man in Ionesco's The Bald Soprano, and probably sucked, but I think they chose me because of affirmative action. I was the only heterosexual male in high school drama. Mimi, on the other hand, was genuinely outstanding as Peter Pan in an all-girl production. (She went to a Catholic all-girls school.) For her it is undoubtedly a forgotten weekend. For me it was a career highlight.
