By the way, Anthony Weiner's name shouldn't really be pronounced WEE-ner, although he (or his family) have elected to use that pronunciation.
In German:
Wiener would be VEE-ner, meaning "Viennese; coming from Vienna."
Weiner would be VY-ner, and doesn't really mean much on its own, but "Wein" is "wine" and "weinen" is the infinitive "to cry," so "Weiner" can have all sorts of derivative meanings.
Oscar Meyer Wieners are spelled "ie," not "ei."
In other words, the congressman actually chose to call himself WEE-ner.
Which tells you quite a bit about the guy.
