A Canadian man was charged with assault after he allegedly shoved a sheriff's car off his property with a forklift

"Wilfred Doyle, 45, of St. Andrews was charged with mischief."

OK, so far not a big deal. Pretty much the same crime as TP'ing the principal's maple tree.

"as well as assault with a deadly weapon" - on a police officer.

Oops. That might be a hair more serious.

Why would they bother to add a mischief charge to something like assaulting a police officer with a deadly weapon? So now he'll get life imprisonment - and he'll have to clean the blackboards!
