Empty Theaters, 0% Positive Reviews Greet Sarah Palin Documentary

"It isn’t strictly accurate to say that I sat through the whole movie alone. Just as the previews started, two young women walked in giggling together and took seats three rows behind me. Afraid that they’d ruined the only story I had at that point — What If Sarah Palin Starred in a Movie and No One Showed Up? — I hoped they’d at least oblige me with an interview, and so they did.

'We looked online for the latest movie playing. All the Harry Potters were sold out, and then we saw The Undeafeated (sic). We don’t even actually know what we’re seeing.'

I thought maybe I’d talk to them after the movie, and get the perspective of two people who went in with no expectations. But they only lasted 20 minutes before walking out."

  1. The author is writing about midnight screening in Orange County. Since I’m assuming a Sarah Palin documentary is about as eagerly anticipated in the O.C. as the long delayed premiere of Schindler’s List in Tehran, the fact they managed to sell three tickets is kinda impressive.

  2. I think you're thinking of something else. The distributors selected that location because Orange County is a bastion of suburban Republicanism. In presidential elections no Democrat has carried it since WW2.

Even the African-Americans and Latinos vote GOP there!

Reagan won it something like 75-25, and Bush won it something like 60-40 even AFTER he invaded Iraq.
