Weekend Box Office Results for July 15-17, 2011Potter set the all-time weekend record with $168 million, which was a comfortable $10 million above the previous record. As predicted, it did slow considerably. After having the best Friday in history by a very wide margin, it could not even finish among the top five Saturdays or Sundays. Those records are still held by Spider-Man 3 and The Dark Knight, respectively.
As anticipated, Winnie the Pooh was lost in the shuffle. It grossed $8 million for the weekend, good for sixth place.
In other news, Transformers 3 passed $300 million by finishing a solid second. It is the first film to clear that hurdle this year.
