2011 NLDS: Chris Carpenter leads St. Louis Cardinals to NLCS - ESPN

Brewers/Cardinals ... Tigers/Rangers

A night of nail-biting tension on every pitch of both games. No team ever had more than a 1-run lead.

Things could not have worked out better for the Brewers:

1. They won

2. They get to keep home field advantage

3. They will get to start Greinke in game one in Miller Park, where he is undefeated

4. He will not have to face the other team's ace

5. They don't have to face the Phillies

Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder are still in the hunt to win the big one in their (presumed) last year with their original clubs. One of them will make it to the World Series. When (and if) they leave their clubs, they will break up the most potent hitting duo in the league (Braun/Fielder) and the strongest trio (Pujols/Holliday/Berkman). All five of those guys finished in the league's top ten in OPS. Braun and Fielder were 1/3, the Cards were 4/7/10.
