Weekend Box Office Results for January 20-22, 2012 - Box Office Mojo

Weekend Box Office Results for January 20-22, 2012

Underworld 4 finished in first place with $25M, about 20% better than expected. Kate Beckinsale has now been in the top film two weeks in a row, and that's two different films (last week: Contraband).

Red Tails was in second, right about in line with pre-weekend expectations, at $19M. This film received an A grade at Cinemascore, which may be an omen for a nice run.

Extremely Loud picked up a bit from a dismal Friday to pass the $10M mark, but that was still below pre-weekend expectations. It finished fourth.

Haywire never gained any momentum at all and finished in fifth place with $9 million, pretty much as expected.

The Margaret Thatcher film expanded its distribution a bit, but floundered, and will now presumably just fade away.
