It was expected to be a four-way battle for first among The Vow, Ghost Rider 2, Safe House and Journey 2. It was actually a three-horse race among the first three on that list, with Journey quite a bit behind.
This Means War, the Reese Witherspoon rom-com, snuck into fourth, and seems to be doing better than anticipated by staying within striking distance of the lead.
As expected, THE SECRET WORLD OF ARRIETTY, the animated critical darling, gained no traction at all, taking in less than #2 million.
