New Movies In Theaters This Week - Rotten Tomatoes

There are two movies in very wide distribution and another in a distribution plan which is nationwide, but less aggressive.

Ghost Rider 2 (PG-13) will be in between 3100-3200 theaters. Critics hate it (10% positive reviews), as you might expect.

This Means War (PG-13) will be in about the same number of theaters. Critics didn't like this Reese Witherspoon movie much better (26%) than Ghost Rider. "The world's deadliest CIA operatives are inseparable partners and best friends until they fall for the same woman."

The Secret World of Arrietty will be in about 1500 theaters. It's a G-rated cartoon, and critics loved it (92%), so it might be something to do with your kids.

It's President's Day weekend, and the industry sources are expecting another solid weekend at the box office, featuring a close battle for the top spot. BoxOffice.com thinks it will be just about a four-way tie among three carry-overs and Ghost Rider, each of them grossing about $30m on the long weekend. This Means War is expected to take a respectable fifth place with a total in the neighborhood of $20M. The Arrietty cartoon is expected to gross about $5-$6 million and finish somewhere around 9th.
