They mentioned Eve's Bayou, a film by Kasi Lemmons. Another of her films, The Caveman's Valentine, could be on the list as well. Both films star Samuel L Jackson, and he's outstanding in both roles. We all love Samuel L when he's doing his cocky, righteously indignant schtick, but we haven't really taken him to our hearts when he's taken on real acting challenges, as in these two films and Black Snake Moan. Among all the big movie stars, he's probably the one whose genuine acting abilities are the most underappreciated because the sensitive, complicated Samuel L is just not the one we want to see.
