Jered Weaver goes to 14-1

Jered Weaver goes to 14-1
The press seems to have focused in on other guys like Dickey, Dempster and Verlander while Weaver has somehow stayed under the radar in a spectacular year, perhaps because he doesn't post many Ks (he's 69th among major leaguers). On the other hand, Weaver leads the majors in WHIP, wins and win percentage. He is only a hair behind the leader in ERA.

At the beginning of July it seemed that the Texas Rangers were a shoo-in for the West, but the Rangers were 9-13 in July while the division's other top teams narrowed the race. Weaver, Mike Trout and Pujols have kept the Angels in contention, and Greinke should make them even tougher. Meanwhile, the Oakland A's are on fire. The A's were 18-5 in July as they narrowed their deficit from 12 GB to 3.5.

If the season ended today, all three teams would make the post-season!
