'Airplane!' is the funniest film ever. Hey, it's science!

Scientifically speaking, Airplane! is the funniest film ever
I dunno about that particular scientific method, but Airplane is definitely a funny film. I'd definitely place it in my own top ten.

"While Lovefilm members voted 'Life of Brian' as the funniest film, our research shows that for laughs a minute the hilarious aircraft-based satire of 'Airplane!' beats the Monty Python epic hands-down."

Films I would place in the top ten, but missing from the list: There's Something About Mary, The Big Lebowski.

Reader comment:

"Ye cats, another list made by wet-behind-the-ears young squirts who don't know anything that was made before they were old enough to run the DVD player by themselves. Airplane at #1 is fine with me, and Naked Gun should also be top 5. But The Hangover has 2.4 laughs per minute? I tried to watch that on cable, and I don't think I laughed 2.4 times at the whole movie. Maybe you have to smoke wacky weed for 12 hours straight to find it that funny. Ditto Bridesmaids, which was just okay at best. Did they count the laughs for that one by showing it to a bunch of drunk girls at a bachelorette party? I love Life of Brian, but Holy Grail is funnier. And where the hell is Blazing Saddles? Early Woody Allen like Sleeper, or his best in my opinion, Love and Death? And where the hell are the Marx Brothers? If you laugh more at Bridesmaids than you do at Duck Soup or Horsefeathers, then you need to have a brain scan to see if that reaction is being caused by a tumor."

Scoop's note:

In general, I agree right down the line. As for particulars, I really like Love and Death, but I still think Woody's funniest films are Bananas and Take the Money and Run! Among recent films, I thought Dodgeball was funnier than The Hangover or Bridesmaids, but I suppose that's just me.
