I agree that those three guys are the ones on the menu, but the Brewers and the Pirates are at .503 and .507 and will most likely miss the post-season games. That makes Posey a heavy favorite. Plus the kid has hit .393 since the break, with an 1.128 OPS, leading the Giants as they pulled away from the pack. And he's a catcher. It's hard to dispute that choice.
Contrary to the conventional wisdom that the MVP should not come from an also-ran, Mike Trout seems to be the obvious choice in the AL. His WAR is 10.3. Nobody else is above 7. Cabrera is a tremendous hitter, but Trout appears to be a tremendous everything: hitter, base-runner, center fielder. Hard to believe he was 20 when the season began.
