This is the first week when we get to see the calculations.
Alabama is still #1 nationally in the overall rankings, but is only #3 in the computer portion, behind Florida and Notre Dame.
Thanks to the computer boys, Florida, not Oregon, gets the overall #2 ranking. The computers rank Florida #1, Oregon a distant #6. In fact, the computers rank Oregon behind Oregon State! The Oregon/Florida thing is no controversy. If Alabama and Florida keep winning, they will play each other in the SEC championship, at which point one of them will lose and Oregon, if still undefeated, will rise to #2 and a shot at the national championship.
Florida has a very difficult road to that championship game. They still have to beat South Carolina, Georgia, and FSU. The odds of them winning all three are very slim.
Biggest gap between the computers and the humans: Florida State, which is ranked in the top ten by both human polls, is not ranked in the top 25 by the poindexters. Pretty much the same disparity can be seen in Clemson's rankings: 13th in the human polls, missing from the computer rankings. On the other side of the coin, the computers love Texas Tech (#7 in the nation!), but the humans place them far down the list.
