The winning quarterback threw for a record 837 yards and 10 touchdowns.
The star running back of the losing team collected 699 yards on the ground with 7 touchdowns. Amazingly enough, that is not a record. Playing for Netcong High School in New Jersey in 1950, John Giannantonio rushed for the all-time high school record of 754 yards (9 TDs).
And that was no fluke performance. John averaged 595 yards rushing per game that year.
