RIP: Sen. Daniel Inouye of Hawaii.
He WAS Hawaii. He had been a member of congress for 100% of Hawaii's statehood, spending the last 50 years in the Senate! That is one year away from the record for the longest Senate tenure in history. He would have broken that record easily had he lived, because his current term was to run until 2016.
