"The game, in other words, has never been healthier. So why does it feel so irrelevant?"
"The last eight years have produced the seven least-watched World Series on record. More to the point, baseball seems simply to have fallen out of the national conversation."
Scoop,
ReplyDeleteI've never understood why they keep writing about this. If you compare world series ratings to that of the NBA Finals, the world series still usually beats them out. This hasn't been the case the last few seasons, but that is primarily because, with the exception of the 2011 and 2009 fall classics, every other series since 2004 has gone just four or five games, meaning your ratings aren't going to be as strong.
Why does noone make as big a deal about the NBA ratings? I dont know, possibly because they never had the huge ratings the world series once had anyway..And I believe the ratings for the final four are similar. In a world where so much is available on tv, demand, dvd, and through the internet, ratings for virtually everything are down compared to what they once were. Just my two cents. Thanks.
