'Her' named Best Film by National Board of Review

"Spike Jonze’s Her, which tells the story of a man (Joaquin Phoenix) who falls in love with the voice of his computer’s operating system, was named Best Film of 2013 by the National Board of Review. Jonze was also honored as Best Director, giving a boost to that film’s Oscar prospects. Nebraska and Fruitvale Station were also generously recognized, with Bruce Dern and Will Forte winning the actor awards, and Fruitvale‘s Octavia Spencer (Best Supporting Actress), Michael B. Jordan (Breakthough Performance), and director Ryan Coogler (Best Directorial Debut) also winning praise.

Emma Thompson was named Best Actress for her performance in Saving Mr. Banks, while the Coen brothers won Best Original Screenplay for writing Inside Llewyn Davis.

Gravity and 12 Years a Slave didn’t win any major awards."
