Kentucky Wildcats vs. Baylor Lady Bears 133-130 in 4OTs

Kentucky Wildcats vs. Baylor Lady Bears 133-130 in 4OTs
I know I never write about women's hoops, but this game was amazing. Kentucky only won because Baylor had nobody left on the bench. The Lady Bears committed 47 personal fouls. They didn't have to play short-handed, but they might have if they had to go to a fifth OT. Seven of their players had already fouled out, and two others were playing with four fouls.

The rule reads (page 41), "Each team may continue to play with fewer than five players when all other squad members are not eligible or able to play."

They were so desperate by the end of the game that the potential game-tying three was attempted by a woman who had not previously played all year, and was in her one and only minute of this game. In a post-game interview, the Baylor coach said she didn't even want to play that woman at all!

It was the highest-scoring game in the history of Div I women's basketball, and Baylor set the record for most points in a loss.

Kentucky was awarded an astounding 66 free throws and they converted 49 of them. Each of those numbers fell just short of the all-time record. (Washington was 51 for 69 in a 1991 game against NIU.)

The teams combined for 112 free throw attempts, making 82. Both of those are records, the latter far higher than the previous mark of 75.

The previous record for personal fouls by both teams was a mere 64. These two teams had 80! (The rules changed prior to this season.)
