Let's Be Cops (3000 theaters, 9% positive reviews, rated R - the reasons include "graphic nudity," but I don't know what it is or which gender). Action comedy hated by the critics.
The Expendables 3 (3200 theaters, 32% positive reviews, rated PG-13). Stallone's latest ode to elderly violence (and the violence of some new young-uns as well).
The Giver (3000 theaters, 30% positive reviews, rated PG-13). Fantasy drama. "The haunting story of THE GIVER centers on Jonas (Brenton Thwaites), a young man who lives in a seemingly ideal, if colorless, world of conformity and contentment. Yet as he begins to spend time with The Giver (Jeff Bridges), who is the sole keeper of all the community's memories, Jonas quickly begins to discover the dark and deadly truths of his community's secret past. With this newfound power of knowledge, he realizes that the stakes are higher than imagined." Also featuring Meryl Streep.
Boyhood (expanding to 700 theaters, 99% positive reviews, rated R without nudity). Linklater's epic family sage filmed over 12 years with the same cast. Already considered a masterpiece.
Magic in the Moonlight (900 theaters, 50% positive reviews, rated PG-13). Woody Allen's latest.
What If (700 theaters, 71% positive reviews, rated PG-13). Rom-com featuring Harry Potter.
Box office:
The Expendables is supposed to battle for first with TMNT and Guardians, with all of them in the mid-20s.
Let's Be Cops and The Giver are expected to take the #4 and #5 slots with grosses in the teens.
The other three listed above should take in about two million each.
