Cummerbund seems like a decent guy, and I'm sure that was just some term from his childhood emerging from his subconscious.

But ...

It's difficult not to notice that he is the world's whitest human being. He's like a walking reminder of those privileged-British-in-India days, so it's a simple matter to imagine him saying to his servant, "I say, Gunga Din, bring me another gin and quinine, and on your way back, do shoot that frightful beggar at the gate."
