Lesley Gore is dead and I'll cry if I want to,

You would cry, too, if it happened to you.

Although maybe not, because if it happened to you, you'd be dead, and Dead Men Don't Cry. If that's not a title of a Raymond Chandler or Dash Hammett story, it should be.

(I couldn't resist looking it up. There's no hard-boiled noir with that title, but there is such a book.)
