That ties him with Bradshaw and Montana for the most rings ever.
It isn't so much that New England won, as that Pete Carroll handed it to them. The only thing people are talking about is the fact that Seattle ran a pass play from the one-yard line rather than giving the ball to Mr. Talkative, especially since they still had 30 seconds on the clock, it was only second down, and they still had a time-out remaining. Former running back Emmitt Smith called it "the worst play call in the history of football," and that's not easy to dispute. Even the Seahawks players openly criticized their coach.

Reader comment:
Marshawn Lynch had 5 opportunities this year rushing from the 1 yard line. He only scored once.
Not to say that he wouldn't have scored this time but not handing him the ball wasn't as unconscionable as the hindsighters are making it out to be.
Scoop's note:
I think the point is that there was plenty of time, a time-out, and three downs left. The great failure of the play was not in calling a pass PERIOD, but in calling a pass on second down. If Marshawn fails once, there is time for two more plays. One sensible scenario, for example, gives Marshawn the ball on second down, then a time out if he fails, then a quick third down pass - taking the clear TD if somebody is open or throwing it away to stop the clock, then another Marshawn run (or faking to Marshawn) on fourth down if the previous play fails.
