Gagne and his son Greg were popular wrestlers on their own, but Gagne was probably most famous for all of the great champions he trained, like Mr Perfect, Ric Flair, Bob Backlund, etc. He also started his own promotion, the AWA, which was very strong in the upper Midwest for a quarter of a century.
