It was a virtual 3-way tie for first place between Tomorrowland, Pitch Perfect 2 and Poltergeist.

Mad Max and The Avengers made good showings in the 4th and 5th spots.

No other film posted significant numbers, although Far From the Madding Crowd's $865,000 was damned impressive for a 289-theater run. That film actually had the highest average per theater on Friday. This was the film's fourth Friday, and each has been better than the one before! (It received 85% positive reviews.)
