Pretentious-O-Meter: How pretentious is you favorite film?

Pretentious-O-Meter: How pretentious is you favorite film?

The sole metric is the comparison between critical judgment and popular judgment, but it's an interesting conversation starter.

Some of the conclusions are obviously loony:

I don't think anyone has ever called Groundhog Day pretentious, although it includes some occasional introspection. The meter says it is "93% pretentious."

On the other hand, Tarkowsky's Andrei Rublev, a legendary highbrow film from a Northern European master, is "40% mass market." Yeah, right.
