Yeah, I know. There is no evidence that ol' Nappy ever said this. The expression, often called Hanlon's razor, has been around in many variations since before Napoleon's time.
It and slight variations of it have been variously attributed to Robert Heinlein, Einstein, Goethe ...
... and probably Buster Poindexter, Huckleberry Hound, and Tonto, for all I know.
