It was not a surprise that Goodell upheld a decision that he probably made in the first place. (If you believe that his lackeys made that decision without consulting him, please contact me, because I would like to sell you a certain large bridge.)

What surprised me was that Brady made a blanket denial with no weasel-words: "The fact is that neither I, nor any equipment person, did anything of which we have been accused."

It's evident from his statement that he will either take the NFL to court himself or support an NFLPA suit.
