NFL Football Scores - NFL Scoreboard - Week 3

NFL Football Scores - NFL Scoreboard - Week 3

Oddities and points of interest:

The Jets have NEVER beaten the Philadelphia Eagles in all of history. They've played ten times. Of course, the Jets suck against many teams. Their winning percentage is .300 or worse against six other teams as well: 1-8 against the Ravens, 5-17 against the Steelers, 2-10 against the 49ers, 2-8 against the Skins, 3-8 against the Bears and 3-7 against the Cowboys.

The Patriots scored every time they had the ball (except for the final kneel-out). Their punter got the day off.

The Bears punter made up for it. He had to punt after EVERY single drive in the team's humiliating shutout. His name is Pat O'Donnell, and he punted 10 times for 477 yards. Amazingly, that is nowhere near the record. In a 1998 game, the Raiders' punter, Leo Araquz, punted 16 times for 709 yards. In that same 7-6 game, the Chargers' punter had to deliver 11 times for 522 yards, so both punters in that game saw more action than O'Donnell did today! (Exciting game. What could be more fun than watching 27 punts?)

Moving up: Before the season began, the oddsmakers had the Cardinals at 45-1 to win the Super Bowl, 14th best in the league. They are now undefeated and they look so impressive that it's easy to imagine that they could be 7-0 when they reach the Seahawks on November 15th.

Moving down: The Colts narrowly escaped a third straight loss. They needed a furious 4th quarter to overcome the lowly Titans, who were 2-14 last year. Amazingly the Colts are now tied for first in their division, along with every other team (they are all 1-2). The oddsmakers had installed them as the pre-season favorite to win the AFC! (No kidding - over the Pats. The Colts were 18-5 and the Pats were 19-5). The Colts have a leg up on the playoff climb because of their weak division, so they may still get to that championship, but it won't be that easy.
