NFL Football Scores - Week 6

NFL Football Scores - Week 6. Five men enter. Five men leave.

All five undefeated teams remained on the undefeated path Sunday, although only the Bengals had a fairly smooth route.

I guess the Pats might have lost if the Colts had shown any common sense. Many people noted the sheer lunacy of the Colts' trick play, but very few people have really realized that the Colts have not really been a good team in the past three years. Their records are inflated by their weak division.

2013: They were 11-5, consisting of 6-0 against their division and 5-5 against the rest of the league

2014: No need for me to do additional typing, just a cut-and-paste. They were again 11-5, consisting of 6-0 against their division and 5-5 against the rest of the league.

2015: They are 3-3, consisting of 3-0 against their crappy division and 0-3 against the rest of the league.

The total for three years: a very impressive 15-0 against their division, but 10-13 against the rest of the league.

--------------------

Apart from the Colts, the most interesting aspect of the day was Phil Rivers passing for 500 yards in a loss. There are only 15 games in NFL history with more passing yards for a single QB. He aired it out 65 times, completing 43, but his team scored only 20 points. This point total is unusually low for the 500 Club. When Roethlisberger accomplished his 500-yard game last year, for example, the Steelers scored 51. When Romo did it the previous year, the 'Boys scored 48.

You might even think that 20 points would be the fewest in a 500-yard game, but you'd be wrong. In 2006, Brees passed for 510 yards against the Bengals, but could only put 16 points on the scoreboard, thanks to three interceptions. The amazing thing about Rivers's game yesterday is that he threw no interceptions, so he did set a record of sorts: fewest points in a 500-yard game with no interceptions! How did the Chargers pull that off? They had two drives of 70 yards or more that turned it over on downs. They had two more drives of 60 yards or more in which they settled for a field goal. Those four drives accounted for 274 yards but only 6 points. They also turned it over once on a fumble and punted three times.
