Peyton Manning has been crashing slowly, but the pace seems to have speeded up. He was benched in the third quarter after going 5-for-20 for 35 yards, with four interceptions. He looked like an old man and his QBR was an embarrassing ZERO.
It has been about eight years since any starting QB had a zero rating.
Interesting facts about zero games:
Peyton's father and brother also had zero games!
Terry Bradshaw is the only passer ever to have three such games. He spaced them out over 12 years: 1970, 1975 and 1982.
The great Otto Graham once had one in the 1953 championship game (the predecessor of the Super Bowl).
There was a 1973 game between the Falcons and the Cardinals when BOTH starting quarterbacks had a 0.0 game. The Cardinals QB (Gary Keithley, who I don't remember) then repeated the zero the following game as well! Unsurprisingly, Keithley never played in another NFL game. He was only 22 at the time. I looked him up. He went to Alvin High School with Nolan Ryan (he was a freshman when Ryan was a senior). After his brief stint in the NFL, he went on to a successful coaching career in Texas high school football. The linked article says he was a very humble man, which makes sense because you really can't be too cocky after a team drops you following the worst back-to-back games in NFL history.
