At this point, America's heels are kinda dug in. The more grief Trump gets from the media, the more he widens his lead. The last time Quinnipiac did their national analysis, Trump had a mere one point lead over his nearest competitor (Carson at the time). Now he's up ten.
Here are the numbers: (last Q poll, this poll, change)
Trump 24,27,+3
Rubio 14,17,+3
Cruz 13,16,+3
Carson 23,16,-7
As you can see from the third column, what's really happening is that Ben Carson is in free-fall and the other major candidates are splitting his supporters evenly. They are also dividing evenly those few who have moved out of the "undecided" column. That trend did neither Rubio nor Cruz any good. They were 10 and 11 behind Trump at the beginning of November and they have maintained those exact deficits through the beginning of December.
Much ado about nothing.
On the Dem side of the ledger, Hillary leads Bernie 60-30. Her 30-point lead is a substantial gain from the previous Q poll one month ago, in which she led by 18.
