“A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian.”
I dunno. Far be it from me to question the pope's theology, because he's been studying the bible all of his life, but Trump is in the same profession as Jesus' dad, and the Gospel of Mark has the locals asking about Jesus himself, "Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary?” Now in those days and in that part of the world, carpenters did not build bridges or houses, but they could construct walls for animal enclosures, so Jesus himself seems to have been in the exact same profession as Trump, of building walls, but not bridges.
In fairness to Cool Pope Frank, Jesus' father was definitely not a Christian, and technically, neither was Jesus, since Christianity began after his death, so I guess the pope's statement could be technically correct, but I doubt if he meant to throw Trump in the same category as Jesus.
