That is amazing. They finished tied for ninth in their own conference, and were 9-10 in their last 19 games before the tournament, including five losses in their final six games.

Syracuse was a #10 seed. That's not a record for reaching the Final Four: three #11 seeds have made it. If the Orangemen win one more game, however, they would be in record territory. No team seeded worse than #8 has ever advanced to the championship game. Three number eights have made it to the last game, and only one of them has won the tournament (Villanova in 1985).
