Smart play by both teams. Chapman becomes a free agent after this year, so the Yankees can still get him back next year if they want him, but in the meantime they got four players in exchange for a couple months of Chapman.
Meanwhile the Cubs have obviously decided that this is their year, and they are stockpiling weapons to that end.
