That's actually brilliant damage control. If her speech was created by professional writers, there is no way to justify plagiarizing somebody else's work verbatim, but by claiming that Melania wrote it personally, they can always fall back on "I am just poor foreign woman learning your strange American rules. In Sevnica, plagiarism is considered the second-sincerest form of respect, right after sprinkling holy water on your neighbor's pig."

Y'all are making a mountain out of a molehill, here. So she used a few phrases that Michelle used, whoopee. They were common phrases and thus are not copyright-able. If the entire speech had been lifted, then there would be a problem. The speechwriters should have reordered some of the words and that would have avoided the problem altogether.
ReplyDeleteNot so at all. One section of the speech is obviously plagiarized almost word-for-word. Even Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said he would "probably" fire the speechwriter.
ReplyDeleteThe point isn't the thieving and lying. That's a Monday evening for Trump.
ReplyDeleteThe point is the incompetence. Are their only speechwriting moves "copy, paste"? From a Democrat? Even that old fraud Biden went outside the country to do his plagiarism.
