Donald Trump rescinds Andrea Bocelli’s invitation to perform at inauguration

"At the moment, the only musician still confirmed to show up at Trump’s inauguration is America’s Got Talent runner-up Jackie Evancho"

Nice line-up!

Wait, don't many C&W singers like The Don?

  1. I hear Chachi's free that night. (I don't actually HEAR it, but seems a fair bet.)

    1. I don't know whether Chachi can sing, but maybe Potsie is a Trump man.

  2. I mentioned previously that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by as much as she did because Donald Trump under-performed relative to other Republicans in Texas (I said the vote would have been about 500,000 closer, it may be more like 750,000 closer.)

Evan McMullin also received about 750,000 votes including several hundred thousand as write-ins. It hard to believe that the vast majority of those McMullin voters would not have voted for a different Republican candidate.

So, fortunately I don't think this large a win in the popular vote for the Electoral Vote loser will be replicated any time soon. This is sort of important because obviously the Electoral College isn't going away (though, as I wrote previously, maybe the Electors themselves can be done away with.)

My understanding is that the Clinton campaign spent money on advertising in California which probably drove up her margin of victory there.

The likeliest reason by far she did that was not that she needed to advertise to win the state, but because there were between 4-7 U.S House Republicans who were regarded as vulnerable in California due to a combination of Trump's unpopularity in the state and the U.S Senate California 'Jungle Primary' runoff featuring two Democrats.

It was hoped that more than 1 million Republicans would not turn out to vote in California. A gain of 4-7 U.S House seats in California would have gone quite some way to the Democrats retaking the House.

In the end, all of the 14 Republican House members in California were reelected, but Jeff Denham was reelected with just 51% of the vote, and Darrel Issa (who I'm sure the Clinton campaign would love to have defeated) was reelected by around 1,500 votes.
