La La Land dominates the BAFTAs
I supose it is also the Oscar favorite.
Last year the Oscars got a lot of flak for not nominating any non-whites. This year they nominated quite a few, presumably so they could suffer a humiliating defeat to La La Land, the single whitest film ever made.

It seems the Oscars always votes for a film that celebrates Hollywood when given a chance.
ReplyDeleteEven last year's winner 'Spotlight' was a celebration of Hollywood because it seems it won largely on the basis of being 'this generation's All the President't Men.'
If any film defeats La La Land it would almost certainly be Moonlight though I think Lion has been such a surprise hit at the Indie box office that it could score an out of nowhere win.
Also it would have been funny had Birth of a Nation and Loving also been nominated for best picture along with Moonlight, Fences and Hidden Figures. Maybe there would have been an #oscarsoblack hash tag.
