Which state has the most corruption?

Which state has the most corruption?

Surprisingly, none of the Big Three of Corruption (New Jersey, Illinois, Louisiana) was the most corrupt by this measure, although they all made the top ten. How rotten do things have to be when you are considered more corrupt than Illinois?

  1. Well, this is more about discovered corruption than actual corruption. Those states might have just gotten better at hiding it.

  2. Yeah... Ranking by raw number of corruption convictions without accounting for population is a mug's statistic.

I suspect that the per capita corruption public capital after Louisiana was most likely Alaska, although many of the VECO convictions were overturned or reduced.

(Actually per the 538 per capita numbers, AK is #3, and Mississippi is #2. Because OF COURSE IT IS.)

  3. I forgot about Alaska! They are always a contender.
