How do US taxes compare internationally?
"US taxes are low relative to those in other developed countries. In 2015, US taxes at all levels of government represented 26 percent of GDP, compared with an average of 34 percent of GDP for the 34 member countries of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development."
The last person to make this argument was Walter Mondale, and we all know how that turned out. Even allegedly liberal states like California are still stringently anti-tax. Think tankers making arguments about percentage of GDP are just talking to themselves.
ReplyDeleteI think the article is less political slogan and more statement of fact.
ReplyDeleteFWIW, Mondale was right. Reagan raised taxes 11 times and tripled the national debt.
I do agree people would rather have you bullshit them, though.
