Yankees win in an extraordinary 1-0 pitchers' duel
Tanaka was brilliant for 7.
Carrasco was also outstanding.
The unlikely offensive hero? Greg Bird, who hit .190 during the season, and who didn't even become a regular until the very end of August, was the only hitter who showed up today for either team, but he was enough. Just enough.
(To be fair, Bird was on a tear at the end of the regular season. He batted .379 with four homers in his last nine games. Of course he came into that streak hitting a buck forty-four.)
