San Francisco’s ICE spokesman quits, disputes agency’s claim that 800 eluded arrest
"The San Francisco spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement resigned after the agency’s recent Northern California sweep, saying he couldn’t continue to do his job after Trump administration officials made false public statements about a key aspect of the operation."
“It’s the job of a public affairs officer to offer transparency for the agency you work for. I felt like we weren’t doing that. I’ve never been in a situation when I’ve been asked to ignore the facts because it was more convenient. It was my first time being asked to do that.”
I like it when the press and people splits hairs. The actual statement from the spokesman was that ICE would not be able to arrest the roughly 1000 people on the list so when they only arrested roughly 200 people, the other 800 being quoted by the administration is not true. As Spoke would say, "interesting!"
