UCLA doesn't even make it into the round of 64!

How the mighty have fallen. The Bruins have won more national titles than any other college. Since 1964, they have won 11 national championships, which is more than the next two schools added together (North Carolina and Duke have won five apiece in that era.)

But ...

UCLA won 10 of those titles in their amazing run of 12 years from 1964 to 1975, and the other in 1995, so they've won only 1 in the past 40 years, and none in the past 20.

In the past quarter century (1993-2017), U Conn and North Carolina have won more titles (4 each) than any other school. Duke and Kentucky have won three apiece. Only 24 titles were available in those 25 years. Louisville won in 2013, but their title was taken away just last month, following an investigation and appeal, so as of now, nobody won the 2013 national title. (Sorry, Michigan. Your loss in the title game is still a loss, and you do not get promoted to #1. No soup for you.)

I wonder if UCLA would have been better off playing in the NIT. A lot of the traditional powerhouses are in the NIT this year, including former national champions Louisville and Marquette.
