Cleanup of 700,000 underwater tires starts - 06/07/2007 - MiamiHerald.com

Cleanup of underwater tires starts
"In the 1970s, about two million tires were placed as an artificial reef on the ocean off the shore of Fort Lauderdale. Intended as good fish habitat, the tires instead failed to support marine life and began to destroy nearby living coral reefs as storms and tides forced the tires against living corals on their way toward shore."

OOPS!
